Equipping Leaders: Purity | November 13

Key Scriptures: Genesis 1:28, 2:24-25, Leviticus 19:2; 1 Peter 1:16

1 Corinthians 6:13
“The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.” Verse 15 adds that our “bodies are members of Christ.”
Colossians 3:5 exhorts us to “put to death what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.” “You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So, glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:20).  The good news is that believers can glorify God in their bodies through proper sexual expression. This expression means freedom of intimacy that is pure and enjoyable (Hebrews 13:4).  The judgment of God: Revelation 22:14-15 "Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. Outside are the dogs and sorcerers and the sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood."
Why is Purity important?
"Purity is so much more than physical abstinence from sexual expression before marriage. Purity is something beautiful...a reflection of God in my heart and body as I imitate His purity.  Jesus took all my filth and dirt upon Himself and robed me in His righteousness. Think of the word pure...to be clean, to be unblemished, to be innocent. This is something to love and to aspire to. It is for the glory of God. (
